The NORTH WEST FRONTIER PROVINCE possesses the richest cultural
heritage of Pakistan, and geographically linked with the ancient
routes, it is rightly recognized as a melting pot of different
human civilizations.
It is the only region in Pakistan where a complete cultural
profile from the early times to the Islamic period, is established
through excavations carried out here by various agencies over the
past several years.
A short history of the sites, so un earthed, together with the
historical monuments, scattered at various places in the
